You know, of course, that if you are late for an interview, you are almost invariably not going to get the job, and in some cases, you will not even get the interview. Do we even need to state that? Well, we just did. But this blog post is not so much about being on time as it is about preparing to be earlyâ€"very (very!) early. If an interview is important to youâ€"and it should be important to you, because otherwise you have no reason to be interviewingâ€"then you should plan to be very (very) early for your appointment. Let’s assume that you have an appointment at 12:00 p.m., and let’s say that it takes you 30 minutes to get to the appointment. So, when should you leave? 11:30 11:15 11:00 Which one? If you answered, “I know this is a trick question, because I would leave before 11,” then you are right (and probably are a super-thorough and professional person). Here is your rule of thumb for being on time for an important interview: double the commute time and add 15 minutes. So, if your interview is at 12:00 p.m. and you have a half-hour commute, then you should leave at 10:45 a.m. at the latest. This way, you have a 30-minute train delay or traffic jam built into your trip, and you still have an additional 15 minutes to spare. If you are interviewing in another city, fly in the night before. In addition to making the right impressionâ€"interviewers love to see the diligence and dedication it takes to be earlyâ€"it will put you in the position to perform your best in the interview. Those who take the side of pro-choice or as also known as pro-abortion often use statements concerning life, humanity, human rights and freedom to support their claims. This is an obvious misconception since the term embryo refers to humans at particular states of development. The Identity and History of the Caribbean The Caribbean is a vastly diverse area representing the effects of colonialism, slavery, and the combination of many cultures. Since the arrival of Europeans the Caribbean islands have been going through constant change. The loss of native peoples and the introduction of the plantation system had immediate and permanent reprocussions on the islands. The Plantation system set up a society which consisted of a large, captive lower class and a powerful, wealthy upper class. As the plantation systems became successful labor was needed in order to progress. Slavery became the answer to the problem. Slavery played an important role in the how the economy changed the islands because there was a shift on the main economic ingredient, Sugar. Section 2 of Caribbean Slave Society and Economy shows how the economy shifted during this expansion. Before sugar became the main export in 1643, tobacco, sugar, indigo and ginger were the main exports in the English and French Antilles. Tobacco and cotton became important in "pre-sugar era because it was easy to cultivate and did not need as much labor as the sugar plantations. Robert Carlylebatie in the essay "Why sugar? Economic Cycles and the Changing of Staples on the English and French Antilles, 1624-54" writes, "the mastery of the art of making sugar required time, skill and money.
